As I write this I’m sitting on the bus heading home from an awesome few days in Nashville. I had the honor of performing for the Scott Hamilton Cares Foundation last night alongside the amazing Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Ben Rector, and Rodney Crowell.
The best ice skaters in the world did routines to our songs and were breathtaking. All of the proceeds went to finding a cure for cancer, a cause so dear to Scott’s heart as it is to so many of us. Then today I had an incredible writing session for my new album. It’s been a whirlwind couple of days and I’m so happy to be heading home, but now my mind is fully focused on the week ahead and the big day of Thanksgiving!
As I sit here rolling down I65 South I started making a list of all of the things I need to get done before Thursday. The menu, grocery lists, chore lists, etc. There are lots of things that need to get done in what now seems like a short amount of time but I know the kids will help and Jay is also always good about helping when it comes down to the wire.
There are not just Thanksgiving lists to be made. I am also trying to make my list of what all still needs to be done for my Christmas shows that start in just a couple of weeks and for my new album. Needless to say, my mind is a little full at the moment BUT so is my heart. Thanksgiving is one of my favorites. Not just because of the yummy food since I try to be good 🙂 but because as you all know, I love to cook and hosting parties is one of my favorite things to do. Cooking for my family and loved ones brings me such joy!!
I’ve talked about it before, but I’m obsessed with candles and diffusers. I love it when guests open the door of my home to be greeted with a welcoming and unique scent. I also love the flickering candlelight making the house feel so warm and cozy. For rooms where you don’t want to leave candles unattended like a guest bathroom, I love a great diffuser. Kai Fragrances is one of my favorites! They have candles, diffusers, AND beauty products that I absolutely LOVE!! I also take them on the bus with me so that even when I am traveling I have that homey comfort feel.
So even though I can’t believe that it is the holiday season already as Im sure goes for many of you, it is here. Ready or not 🙂 I better get to work but I’ll be sharing recipes and sneak peaks into my crazy holiday season so be sure to stay tuned and dont forget to add Kai to your lists. You won’t regret it.
Oh, and don’t forget to come see me on the road in December! I have 12 shows next month and 11 of them are my “At Christmas” tour where I’ll sing a mixture of my hits and some of my favorite Holiday songs.
